The Wild Glitter ethical gift guide 2017

We're excited to be taking part in this year's #shopethicalinstead campaign, run by the lovely people over at Ethical Hour (check out their twitter for more ethical gift inspiration). In honour of this we've put together our first ever green christmas gift guide - it's a nice chance to shout about some other brands out there who are offering eco-friendly gifts or ways to do christmas ethically this year. Check them out!

1. Give an acre of Rainforest.

The World Land Trust has been working tirelessly for nearly 30 years to save endangered habitats around the world, with great success. You can read about the work that they do, and the thousands of acres they've saved from deforestation and development on their website. What better gift to give than an acre of exotic rainforest? Each acre bought comes with a certificate as well as information on the projects and animals being saved.

Donations from £25.

2. Give life-improving homewares

Aerende sells beautifully designed homewares, made in the UK by people facing social challenges. The social business supports adults with learning disabilities, people facing mental health problems, prisoners, refugees and many more people, offering them and the projects they work with a platform to sell their wares.
The crockery above was made by adults living at The Grange, a residential estate for people with learning disabilities and part of the Camphill Community, and is £40 for the set.

Prices from £6.50.

3. Give ethical socks

Socks don't have to be a boring present any more, thanks to Maik. Their socks are made by a family-run factory in France, using eco-friendly dyes and fabric. There's a great range of fun patterns to choose from too.

Prices from £12.

4. Give recycled jewellery

Beachcomber jewellery is handmade on the Welsh Coast from recycled silver and gold. For added green points, anything from their Sea and Sand collection gives a 10% donation to the Marine Conservation Society.

Prices from £30.
